[¹¹C]Phosgene is an undervalued labelling synthon for the production of PET-tracers that can be used to insert a [¹¹C]carbonyl functional group between two heteroatoms. Most commonly [¹¹C]phosgene is employed for the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical [¹¹C]ureas, [¹¹C]carbamates and [¹¹C]carbonates.

We aim to develop a reliable and robust approach to synthesize [¹¹C]phosgene with a high molar activity (A_m) (Figure 1.) and to use it to produce radiopharmaceuticals with improved radiochemical yields (RCY) and short synthesis times.
